A private biodiversity sanctuary at the edge of the world's greatest inland delta.
Mentubi sits within a privately managed wildlife estate on the Gomoti River — a stretch of land where the Okavango’s annual flood creates and reclaims habitat in a perpetual, ancient rhythm. The wildlife here is not staged or imported. It is resident, transient, and entirely wild. Zebra graze within sight of the suites. Elephant move through seasonally. The Gomoti’s birdlife is extraordinary at every hour of the day.

Moments in the Wild
01
First Light on the Gomoti
The river surface holds the last of the night for a few minutes after sunrise — mist, stillness, a hippo exhaling somewhere upstream. This is why you came. From Suite One’s private deck, this moment is yours alone.
02
The Morning Chorus
Before coffee, before anything — the Delta wakes in sound. Red-billed francolins, African hoopoe, the distant call of a fish eagle. Guests who listen carefully before leaving their suite are often rewarded before the walk has even begun
03
Zebra at the water
A herd moving to drink. The dust they raise, the sound of hooves on dry ground. Resident on the estate and frequently visible from the suites.
04
A Mokoro Channel at Dusk
The sky reflects in the water. The pole lifts and drops without a sound. Dragonflies. A malachite kingfisher on a reed stem. Time moves differently here.
05
Dinner Under Scorpius
Far from city light pollution, the Milky Way overhead is not a concept. It is a presence. Every evening at Mentubi ends beneath it.
07
Elephant in the Riverine Bush
Seasonal and not guaranteed — but when the Delta’s flood recedes and the elephants move through, there is nothing in the natural world to compare with the quiet enormity of them. Your guide will know when they are close.
06
The Outdoor Shower
Stone underfoot, sky above, the bush entirely present beyond the enclosure wall. A red-billed hornbill lands on the thatch. You decide not to rush. This is the Mentubi understanding of luxury — a private encounter with the world as it actually is.
The Delta Through the Year
The Okavango’s character shifts with the seasons. Each has its own rewards. Mentubi is open year-round.
Green Season
November - March
Dramatic skies, lush vegetation, migrant birds, newborn animals. Fewer visitors. A different kind of beauty — electric, verdant, unpredictable. Reduced rates available.
Flood Arrival
April - June
The Angolan flood begins to push south, filling channels and transforming the landscape. Water levels rise weekly. Birding peaks. A sense of the Delta renewing itself.
Peak Season
June - October
The flood is at its height. Dry, cool mornings. Wildlife concentrates around water. Moremi is at its most productive. The iconic Okavango experience — at its finest.
Shoulder Season
October - November
Waters recede. Temperatures rise before the rains. Game remains concentrated. First migrant birds arrive. A transitional month of excellent value and quieter camps.
