The Wildlife Safari – Moremi & Jao is a 10-day journey through some of Botswana’s most spectacular wilderness areas. Beginning in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta, the safari travels deep into Moremi Game Reserve where guests experience exceptional wildlife viewing in one of Africa’s most celebrated safari destinations.

The adventure continues north into the Okavango Panhandle and the island systems of Jao, where tranquil waterways, traditional mokoro journeys, walking safaris, and cultural encounters reveal another side of the Delta ecosystem.

Guests experience a blend of classic safari activities including game drives, boat safaris, mokoro excursions, and guided nature walks. Along the way there are opportunities to interact with local communities, learn traditional crafts, and experience the culture of the Bayei people.

This ten-day safari begins in Maun before travelling by charter flight to Moremi Game Reserve for several days of exceptional wildlife viewing. Guests explore the reserve through morning and afternoon game drives while enjoying classic bush camp evenings beneath the stars.

The journey continues north toward Shakawe and the Delta island systems of Jao. Here the focus shifts to water-based safaris including mokoro excursions, boat cruises, and island walks. Guests also experience local village life and cultural traditions before returning to Maun for the final night.

Day 01 :

Day 1 – Arrival in Maun

Guests arrive in Maun and enjoy a guided town walk exploring local markets and restaurants. Dinner is enjoyed at a local restaurant before an overnight stay at a lodge.

Day 02 :

Day 2 – Flight to Moremi Game Reserve

After breakfast guests explore Maun before boarding a charter flight to Moremi Game Reserve. Upon arrival at Xakanaxa Airstrip, guests are welcomed by their guide and begin their safari adventure with an afternoon game drive and sundowner before dinner at camp.

Day 03 :

Day 3 – Moremi Wildlife Safari

The day begins with an early morning game drive followed by a bush coffee break. After lunch and rest at camp, the afternoon continues with another game drive and sunset drinks before dinner and campfire storytelling.

Day 04 :

Day 4 – Exploring Moremi

Another full day in Moremi includes morning and afternoon game drives or optional boat activities depending on water levels. Guests enjoy opportunities to observe elephants, predators, and a variety of birdlife.

Day 05 :

Day 5 – Journey to Shakawe

After a morning game drive guests depart Moremi by charter flight to Shakawe. The afternoon includes a relaxing boat cruise along the Okavango Panhandle followed by dinner at the lodge.

Day 06 :

Day 6 – Transfer to Jao

Guests travel toward the Jao island region by vehicle and boat (or optional helicopter transfer). After arriving at camp, the afternoon includes mokoro excursions or sunset boat safaris.

Day 07 :

Day 7 – Jao Island Exploration

Morning walking safaris or fishing activities are followed by a cultural village visit where guests learn about traditional basket weaving, community life, and local culture.

Day 08 :

Day 8 – Cultural Experience

Guests continue exploring the islands with guided walks, mokoro safaris, and opportunities to observe wildlife and birdlife. The evening features a traditional Bayei cultural dance performance.

Day 09 :

Day 9 – Return to Maun

After a final mokoro safari guests fly back to Maun. The afternoon includes a town walk and shopping for local crafts before dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge.
