The Wildlife Safari – Moremi & Jao is a 9-day journey through some of Botswana’s most spectacular wilderness areas. Beginning in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta, the safari travels deep into Moremi Game Reserve, where guests experience exceptional wildlife viewing in one of Africa’s most celebrated safari destinations.
The adventure continues to Nxai Pan National Park for more game viewing, but in a new ecosystem. The Nxai Pan plains are drier compared to Moremi, and you can see different types of animals like
Plains Zebra: Home to the second-largest land mammal migration in Southern Africa. Thousands of zebras migrate into the lush, grass-covered pans between December and April to graze and give birth.
Blue Wildebeest: Travel alongside the massive zebra herds during the rainy season.
Desert Antelopes: Large populations of springbok and gemsbok (oryx) thrive here, followed by eland and red hartebeest.
Super Prides: Lions that have uniquely learned to hunt in the open, often preying on springbok and gemsbok.
Cheetahs: The open, flat grasslands of the pan are a renowned habitat for cheetahs, which rely on sheer speed to hunt springbok.
Nocturnal Desert Dwellers: The pan is an excellent place to spot elusive species like the aardwolf, brown hyena, honey badger, and bat-eared fox.
Black Korhaan: A noisy, charismatic bird that bursts into the air with a squeak when disturbed by safari vehicles; a signature species of the region.
Kori Bustard & Secretary Bird: Large, striking ground-dwelling birds that roam the open plains
No animals are strictly endemic (found nowhere else in the world) to Nxai Pan. However, the region is famous for a unique assembly of desert-adapted wildlife, acting as a critical seasonal oasis for thousands of migrating grazers and predators
