For more than five decades, Tim and June Liversedge have dedicated their lives to exploring, documenting, and conserving the natural heritage of Botswana. Their remarkable journey has helped shape the understanding of the country’s wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation history, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire nature lovers, researchers, photographers, and conservationists around the world.
Tim’s passion for nature began at an early age. As a young student, he devoted countless hours to studying wildlife and working alongside experts at the Mutare Museum in Zimbabwe. His dedication and talent quickly became evident, and at just 19 years old he was selected to lead a mammal survey across Botswana, contributing valuable scientific knowledge about the country’s wildlife.
Following the survey, Tim joined Botswana’s Wildlife and National Parks Department, serving in several key conservation roles throughout the country. His work ranged from wildlife monitoring and anti-poaching efforts to managing some of Botswana’s most important protected areas, including the Okavango and Chobe regions.
A respected naturalist, researcher, filmmaker, and author, Tim has made significant contributions to wildlife science. He is internationally recognised as an authority on the Pel’s Fishing Owl and was the first to document several bird species within the Okavango Delta. His discoveries, research, and commitment to conservation have earned him numerous accolades, including an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Botswana and the Presidential Meritorious Service Award.
June is an accomplished wildlife photographer whose passion for capturing the beauty of nature has complemented and enriched the couple’s conservation work. Through her photography, she has documented Botswana’s landscapes, wildlife, and people, creating a visual record that has inspired appreciation for the country’s natural treasures.
Her keen eye, patience, and dedication have contributed significantly to the success of the couple’s filmmaking and research projects. June’s images continue to showcase the extraordinary beauty of Botswana’s wilderness and help tell the stories of its wildlife to audiences around the world.
